CLOUDED LEOPARD (Neofelis nebulosa)
The clouded leopard is the largest of the wild cats found in Borneo. Its body length is about 2 meters long and can weigh up to 23 kg. It is an arboreal and nocturnal animal. You can see it resting among the trees during the day and comes out to feed during nightfall. This animal is a skillfull climber and feeds mainly on other small mammals such as mousedeer, monkeys, wild boar and sambhur deer. The females usually have about 1 - 4 cubs at a time. The major threat to this animal is habitat destruction and hunting for its skin. It is also listed as a protected species under the Fauna Conservation Ordinance, 1963.
