Benito's Bistro Café & Restaurant

Benito’s Bistro-Café & Restaurant features the culinary skills of Sabah born chef, Benny, who brings 11years of experience to tempt you with an array of continental cuisine. Fresh from a decade spent traveling and working with several top restaurants in Europe such as “ La Maison Blanche” in Paris to name a few, Benny has embarked on a bold venture to introduce French cuisine to the masses at very affordable prices. With his local upbringing and international training, it is no surprise that Benny is also keen to feature fusion cuisine as part of the bistro’s menu in the coming months.

Its strategic location at the city’s ferry terminal capture the excitement of waterfront views and the islands. The everyday crowds that throng the terminal to be ferried for a day of sun and sea at the nearby coral islands would seem like the perfect customer market. But, truth be told, Benito’s is fast becoming the place to dine not for the tourists but for the local patrons. Lunch time is the busiest which comes not surprise. A set menu of fresh salad or soup of the day, a choice of any pasta or meat dish from the menu, fresh fruit salad or ice cream and coffee or tea or tea is only RM12.90++. That works out to only about USD5 per person! The services is fast and efficient with a staff generous with their smiles and friendliness.

The glass walls of the Bistro open up to a hive of activity during the morning and evening “rush our” but in the afternoon, you can enjoy a leisurely lunch as the islands seem like just an arm’s length away. The air conditioning indoors is a definite plus in the midday heat but so is the refreshing green salads served. Start with a fresh and juicy salad…to a tender sirloin beef steak served with a sparkling black pepper sauce.. and finish with a slice of warm home baked apple tart that comes with cool vanilla ice-cream and you will have a complete your meal well worth your money. Not only are the prices impressive but so are the taste and care taken to prepare your meal which will definitely make you want to come back for seconds.

Wind down with friends after a long day at work with drinks and good days, spectacular sunset views. There are plans to build a verandah overhanging the sea which will be a definite crowd puller in the evenings. Benito’s has only been opened for the last 2 months but it has made big impression indeed. Whether you want to test your palate with new and exiting flavors or looking for a new place to dine, Benito’s will not disappoint. Bon a petit!
