Liew Teck Chan, 54, is married with three children, a daughter and two sons. The eldest, a daughter, graduated with a Business Administration degree and a diploma in fashion design from the United Kingdom. His elder son obtained his degree in pharmacy at Liverpool in England. His younger son is a student in the Tshung Tshin Secondary School, Kota Kinabalu.

GRASSROOT LEADER FOR 17 YEARS
LIEW TECK CHAN has for the last 17 years been committed to social community service for the people of Gaya at the grass-root level.

Liew is familiar with the needs and aspirations of the people of the constituency. He is very well versed in government machinery and procedures. Through his various appointments, he also had the opportunity to work in close rapport with government officials and community leaders in the planning and implementation of development programmes.

  Being a diploma holder in economics and hotel management, Liew gave up a career in hotel management to devote full time to political work in 1985.He was in the forefront of political change with Datuk Yong Teck Lee when the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) was formed in 1994.

Since then, Liew has never looked back and continued to serve the people and the party with dedication, consistently and loyally.  He is a party official who has risen from the ranks through hard work and dedicated service. Among the community service activities provided by the Likas CLC headed by Liew is the Gaya Street Mobile Service on Sundays.

LIEW TECK CHAN is a person you can trust to continue the excellent service previously provided by Datuk Yong Teck Lee.
