KOTA
KINABALU: The Government is committed and is taking action to ensure only
those eligible are registered as voters, said Minister in the Prime
Minister's Department Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Tuesday.
"The
government agencies will enforce all relevant laws to ensure that the
electoral rolls are authentic," Dompok said the Government will not
condone anyone who tries to taint the electoral rolls by whatever means
and immediate action will be taken against anyone or any party that tries
to undermine the authenticity of the electoral rolls.
He
said with the firm measures being undertaken, the Government will ensure
the credibility of the country's democratic institution and enhance the
people's confidence in the election process.

Yong
had asked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the measures
being taken by the ELection Commission to ensure that the electoral rolls
were transparent, genuine and credible in the wake of the recent
revelation that there were mistakes in the electoral rolls.
Dompok
said the EC had been receiving close cooperation from the National
Registration Department through which the citizen status of voters is
being scrutinised on-line.
