Y0NG TO FILE AN APPEAL

KOTA KINABALU: YONG when met said he would be filing for an appeal at the Federal Court next
week. He also said that he did not appeal on the ruling that favoured PBS candidate and petitioner Chong Eng Leong because it did not show that he had committed any
offence "and so there was no basis to apply."
On the possible candidate, he said it is a BN practice that the candidate would only be announced on Nomination Day or a day before, even though the candidate has been ascertained. |
He expected the by-election to be a three-cornered fight between Keadilan, PBS and BN plus other small parties and independents.
On whether the electoral rolls might have been cleaned up, Yong said: "Now that the EC has fixed a date, we assume that they have done all the necessary work to make sure the rolls are clean, legally and constitutionally," he said.
