Liew Teck Chan 54, is married with 3 children. He assisted me as a volunteer political worker, often in the field dealing with peoples' problems. In 1985 he became self-employed to enable him to devote more time to political work.

He had been a political secretary, but performed his political work often without any title or position; just assisting me, assisting the people in my constituency and helping me in discharging my duties in other parts of the State. He worked often in remote kampongs; places not accessible by car, places with no running water, no electricity supply. He helped people with no permanent homes, with no means to take their kids to see a doctor. He assisted people with problems in dealing with the authorities. He's been around, and his deeds are plenty.

Step by step, progressively water was supplied and electricity connected; roads were improved and bridges repaired; low-cost homes were built and medical care brought to remote villages. Even abandoned housing projects (such as Taman Seputeh in Kota Kinabalu) were salvaged. Hundreds of local squatters were happily resettled into resettlement schemes such as Kg. Warisan, Kg. Keramat and others. Thousands of land titles for little plots of farming and homestead lands have been issued and delivered to folks all over the State. Strata titles were made available to shop owners such as those in the Sinsuran Complex and Wisma Merdeka. Many Sabah educational establishments continue to receive government funding due to collective efforts in which Liew Teck Chan is a party to.

Not all managed to get what they needed; but we have always tried. We will try and try again so long as there is a hope. Our best intentions sometimes faced obstacles - from foes and friends alike. We complained to the Election Commission and in Parliament against the presence of illegal voters on the electoral rolls or in any parts of the State. We opposed the increase in gambling outlets; we opposed the closure of Gaya Street and Jalan Jati.

We do not believe in using limited resources for developing any particular area at the unfair expense of other areas simply for personal political agenda. We opposed the increase of parking rates. We wanted a more sensible and humane approach to relocation of squatters. Often we were heard but not listened to. We will persist in what we believe is right. We will continue to speak up for you. We will continue to endeavour to do what the people in Gaya constituency entrusted upon us to do. So much more need to be done. 

On being elected as an MP, Liew Teck Chan will continue to do what we set out to do for the Gaya constituency. Liew Teck Chan knows the development program. He initiated and implemented many of them for the people. Our Party will back him all the way. I trust he can do the job. Because he has been doing it for the past 17 years; quietly, loyally and without asking for any position; without any glamour or publicity. Just doing his work. Liew Teck Chan wishes to continue to serve you and to represent you in Parliament.

劉德泉， 54歲，已婚，育有三名兒女，他以政治志願工作者的身份開始幫助我，尤其是在處理民生的問題上。自85年後他便全情投入政治工作的行列。
他曾當過政治秘書，一路來，他是幫助我處理選區內及州內各有關民生的大小事務，從來沒有計較個人得失或身份的問題。他的服務時常需要到偏遠，交通不便，沒有水電的鄉下，他幫助那些無家可歸，沒有醫藥服務的赤貧家庭及他們的孩子。也出面幫助老百姓和有關部門交涉。聽取民意及解決他們問題的例子不勝杖舉。
　　十七年來，劉德泉都是在默默耕耘，不辭辛勞的為廣大人民解決有關水電供、修橋、建路、爭取廉價屋及推行鄉村醫藥服務等。
　　他的服務也包括解決發展商未完成的房屋計劃（例如亞庇區的 Taman Seputeh），以及成千上萬人獲得廉價屋的分配及安頓。其中的一些例子就是甘榜華利山(Kg.Warisan)和甘榜哥拉曼(Kg. Keramat)等等。
　　此外，上千的貧苦小園主及農民也獲得州政府批出的農耕地地契，以及新蘇蘭商店和默迪卡商業中心的各別單位地契也獲得當局分發予各業主。
　　在州內的各私人教育機構，如華小、獨中、宗教團體等，都源源不斷獲得州政府每年撥給的教育補助金。以上所言的成果，劉德泉都是幕後工作者之一。我們為您服務及爭取權益的工作，經常都遭到當權者的多方阻礙，例如投訴有關幽靈選民投票，反對增加賭博活動、反對關閉加雅街及加迪街、反對高昂的亞庇市新泊車收費率，及反對把泊車收費擴大至打里卜、孟加達及下南南等半郊區，我們也反對未曾詳細策劃就把加雅島違章屋居民徙置到打里卜的草率行動。雖然我們在這些民生問題上沒有決策權，但我們會繼續作出要求，直到有一個滿意的答案為止。作為一位草根領袖，劉德泉在過去十七年來，就一直與我一同謀求解決這些民生問題，從不間斷。

劉德泉代表國陣參加10月12日加雅區國會議席補選是獲得我全力的推薦及支持。他為人誠懇、有原則，是一位待人接物和靄可親的政治工作者。他擁有17年社會服務與政治工作的經驗，特別與加雅區草根階層建立了深厚的感情聯繫，深知加雅區各族人民的需要和疾苦。他也是我擔任了17年里卡士區州議員及3年加雅區國會議員的得力幹部。
　　十月三日的提名日正巧是我的生日，因為不公平的判決，使我失去了投票權。唯有在生日那天許願，衷誠的懇求有正義感及支持過我的加雅區國會選區的人民，踴躍出來投票，像過去支持我一樣，把您手中神聖的選票投給可信賴的劉德泉，讓他獲勝成為加雅區新的人民代議士，全心全意為您們繼續服務！
