KOTA KINABALU: YONG described Friday's High Court declaration that the 1999 State Election result for the Likas Constituency is null and void as an added challenge he would have to face as a politician. "I look forward to the new challenge and prospect of a by-election for the Likas Constituency," he said, in a statement. Commenting on the Judge's ruling that the 1998 electoral rolls for the Likas Constituency was illegal, he said this was a matter that the Election Commission was responsible for. |
"In the past, I had repeatedly made my stand clear on issues related to the need for the Election commission to ensure that the electoral rolls for Sabah constituencies were free from non-citizens" he said. |
