The Sabah Branch was established in 1984 with the objectives of:

• For the benefit and to be of service to all diabetics in Malaysia and others interested in diabetes.

• To promote the study of the causes and treatment of diabetes and to disseminate information concerning diabetes

• To be the co-ordinating body for all members of the association on matters concerning the disciplines that all diabetes must exercise in their daily activities

• To be the group responsible to approach international bodies in relation to diabetes and to have power to organise conferences, seminars or clinics whether on a global, regional or local basis on the subject of diabetes
  

• To compile, print, publish and distribute brochures and/or journals by experts detailing information about diabetes, and to advise on what diabetes should and can do to remain active and be able to lead near normal and useful lives
