KATA Seminar & DAN Grading with Shitokai-Japan & WSKF (World Shitoryu Karate-do Federation),On 23 - 25 April 2005, Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia .
 
 

3 MASK senior instructors attended their license instructor examination. 5 MASK senior instructors attended their DAN grading recently conducted by high ranking senseis from Shitokai Japan & WSKF (World Shitoryu Karatedo Federation).  

MASK (Malaysian Association of Shito-Ryu Karate-Do) have organized its first KATA Seminar & DAN Grading conducted by Shitokai Japan & WSKF, which were held on 23 - 25 April 2005 at Kg Pandan Sport Complex, Kuala Lumpur .

 

     
 

DAN grading conducted on 24 April 2005 afternoon and candidates are Thomas Chong Su Chung (Sabah) for his Godan, for Yondan, Lau Heng Seng (Penang), Pang Chee Kiong (Selangor), John Jikun ( Sabah ), and Tan See Toh (KL) for his Sandan.

 An instructor examination for Jokyu – Shihan (license to teach) was also conducted for Thomas Chong Su Chung (Sabah), Kong Tai Moon (KL) and Phau Yaw Sing ( Penang ).

 The Japanese senseis are very impressed the quality and the standard of the participants. It is beyond their expectation, the quality and the karate-do standard of MASK are far head comparing to other Asian countries.

 

 
40 participants from various parts of Malaysia attended the 2 days KATA seminar. Participants received well the latest changes of the standardization of  ShitoKai junior KATAs, as well as  two compulsory KATAs (Bassai-Dai & Seienchin) to be performed in any competition under the WKF rules. Two new KATAs (Matsumara Rohai & Nipaipo) were taught by the Japanese Senseis, and Participants are ready to share the new learnt KATA with their students once they are back home.

Sensei Keiji Kitamura, 8th DAN of Shitokai & WSKF, Enterprise Director for WSKF, Chief Instructor for Nara, Japan Shitoryu.

Both of the senseis are well received by invitation of MASK CEC and members. After conducted the KATA seminar & DAN grading, they commended the standard of MASK participants who have potential to further enhance their skills and knowledge. Importantly they must practise everyday or at least 4 time a week. A special attention for those have participated the Jokyu-Shihan examination, one must enquire the in-depth understanding and the knowledge of teaching.

 
The Senseis are expected to visit the Country in November with more Japanese Sensei Senseis and a team of Junior fighters. “They are ready to share more knowledge and skills with Malaysian karatekas in their next visit.
