YONG'S QUESTION ON PAPER MILL, NAVAL BASE PROJECTS
(6 September 2002)

KOTA KINABALU: The status of the proposed Malaysia-China pulp and paper mill and the completion and operational date of the naval base in Sepanggar are among the questions submitted by Gaya MP Datuk Yong Teck Lee for the coming parliamentary sitting.

Yong has also submitted a question whether the objectives of the Ops Nyah II have been achieved along with the number of illegal immigrants deported.

In view of the increasing trade, investment and travel and educational exchanges between China and Malaysia including in Sabah, Yong also sought an answer whether the Foreign Ministry will ask China to set up a consulate in Kota Kinabalu like in Kuching.

Others questions are the steps taken to set up unity clubs which are multiracial in composition in universities in order to foster national unity among students.

He also sought an answer from the Education Ministry on the progress of improving the English language in schools at all levels.
